The construction industry has been an area of growth in the state, and in the past few years, Jax has seen a surge in jobs.
The city has seen an influx of construction companies as a result.
And that’s been a big draw for Jax Mayor Scott Foulger, who has been pushing the city to open more jobs.
“The city has a huge population of young people that want to be involved in this industry, so when they come here and start a job, it’s a big deal,” Foulgers office director of development and workforce policy, Michael Devereaux, told Business Insider.
“It’s really an area that we have to work on.”
Foulries office is now working on ways to connect the construction industry to jobs and opportunities for young people, as well as the city.
One of the initiatives that he’s working on is connecting construction companies to Jax residents.
Foulgers office is currently working with a group of construction company representatives to help find out if Jax needs to attract more companies, and to make sure they’re connected to JAX residents.
Devereux told Business Insiders that the goal is to connect companies to the city through job ads and other promotional materials, so that the city knows who to reach out to and that they can build connections.
The next step is to create a system to ensure that companies advertise to the public in a way that makes sense.
“When you start talking to potential employers, the biggest thing they want to hear is, ‘Are you in the area, and what’s your job description?’
That’s really important,” Devereaus said.
“We’re trying to figure out how we can get the city and our business community in sync with this.”
The city already has a citywide job search tool that connects companies with people in the community.
Deveres office has been trying to connect with construction companies through that tool, but the city has been reluctant to use that tool because it’s been difficult for companies to find employees in the early stages of the hiring process.
The first phase of the citywide tool, which was rolled out last year, was designed to allow companies to create job ads that were designed to be tailored to each individual’s needs.
The system currently has more than 200,000 job listings and is only now getting ready to be fully rolled out.
The plan is to launch that new tool in phases over the next year and a half, Devereas office said.
But Foulghus office is already trying to find more companies to advertise to in Jax.
The office is also working on a plan to allow people to apply directly to jobs.
Deviceaux said that’s part of the reason why the office has invested so much time and effort into building the new tool.
Deville said that it’s not only the city’s plan to connect new jobs with Jax, but that the office is looking to expand the scope of the system to include other communities in the future.
“Our hope is that people can find their way to J.C.F. if they have the right skills, and we hope to connect those with businesses in the coming months and years,” Deveaux said.
For now, Deverences office is still focusing on connecting the construction companies that want the city, and the city is also trying to make it easy for companies looking to locate in J.D. to do so.
Deves office is working to create an interactive map of the company’s locations around the state.
“I think we’re going to be able to provide that in the next couple of weeks, but I think it’s important that people know that they have options, that they’re going find their next job,” Deves said.
