Shanghai Urban Construction Week starts with ‘tens of thousands of’ units in the works

Shanghai — China’s biggest urban construction project in decades is getting underway this week with more than 100,000 units of construction in the city.

The Chinese capital is also set to build a new airport and a railway line, a railway station for a second runway and a hotel and office complex in the new residential district in the center of the city, which has seen the city’s population increase over the past 20 years.

The country’s top construction official announced on Wednesday that the construction would begin next week, and said it would be completed by the end of 2019.

The Shanghai Development and Construction Bureau, the Chinese state-owned development agency, said on Wednesday it would hold a series of press conferences on Thursday to give an update on the progress of the project, and the official Xinhua news agency reported the first public demonstration of the Shanghai metro system.

The new subway line is due to open in 2021.

The metro system will be the largest in the world, with 1,000 stations and 4.3 million people living in it.

The city of 1.4 million people is one of China’s most dense, urban centers.

Its downtown and shopping areas are packed with shopping malls, restaurants, shopping centers and other commercial districts, and there are more than 600 parks and open spaces, including the world’s largest outdoor swimming pool.
